  • 42 - Movie Trailer
  • Discuss how Jackie Robinson breaking the colour barrier in professional baseball helped lead to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Consider the historical context (time & place), the challenges he experiences, and the results of his courage.
  • What is the significance of Jackie Robinson today - are there others in Canada facing the same challenges that he faced? - Discuss.

TASK #1 - Create a dialogue between a kid and his parent discussing the significance of the movie 42 and its impact on Canada today.
TOOL #1 - Use XTRANORMALto create a 3D dialogue.

TASK #2 - Assess the impact of Jackie Robinson today.
TOOL #2 - Use Storify – students curate stories from the web (tweets, news, images, youtube, etc).

TASK #3 - Create a movie poster for 42. Movie poster must highlight important social themes that are portrayed in the movie.
